Voile
A light, slightly sheer plain-weave cloth made of tightly twisted yarn, used for easy summer sarees.
Also: cotton voile, poly voile
Voile is a French word for veil. The cloth is a plain weave of fine, tightly twisted cotton or polyester yarns, which gives it a crisp, airy hand and a slight transparency. It drapes lightly and dries fast, so voile sarees are popular for summer and for printed everyday wear. Cotton voile is comfortable but creases, while polyester voile is smoother and more durable. Voile is usually machine woven and then printed, and it sits between a mulmul and a chiffon in weight and feel.
