Chiffon
A very light, sheer, plain-weave cloth made of fine, tightly twisted yarn, which floats and drapes softly.
Also: chiffon saree, silk chiffon
Chiffon is a plain weave of very fine, highly twisted yarns, which gives a sheer, soft, flowing cloth with a slight rough grain. It can be silk, nylon or polyester. A chiffon saree drapes in light folds and moves easily, which is why it is popular for evening wear and for films. It is fragile and can snag, and the fine weave frays at the edges. It can slip in the pleats, so many wearers pin it. It is lighter and finer than georgette.
