Mulmul
A soft, fine, light cotton cloth in plain weave, the Indian word for the muslin the subcontinent was once famous for.
Also: mul mul, mal mal, muslin, mull
Mulmul is a very fine, soft cotton, woven in plain weave from thin yarn, so light that it feels almost like air. The English word muslin is related. Dhaka, in present-day Bangladesh, was long known for the finest muslins, which were woven from specially fine local cotton and sold across the world, and the jamdani is a patterned descendant of that craft. Today mulmul is made by hand and on powerlooms, and it is worn in hot weather. It wrinkles easily and is starched lightly, or washed soft, depending on the look wanted.
