Tissue
A sheer, shimmering cloth woven with a zari weft over a fine silk or cotton warp, so the whole fabric glints.
Also: tissue saree, tissue silk, tissue cloth
Tissue is a thin, gauzy cloth in which fine zari thread is used in the weft across the whole width of the cloth, or most of it, on a silk or cotton warp. The metal gives the cloth a delicate shimmer, and it is light enough to drape well. Tissue sarees are woven in several handloom centres, among them Varanasi, Kanchipuram and Chanderi, and they are often worn for festivals and weddings. The metallic weft makes the cloth a little stiff, and it should be folded with care to avoid creases that crack the zari.
