Seedha pallu

A drape in which the pallu is brought from the back over the right shoulder and falls in front.

Also: sidha pallu, Gujarati style, front pallu

Seedha means straight in Hindi and Gujarati. In the seedha pallu drape, the cloth is taken round the waist and the free end is carried from the back over the right shoulder, so that the decorated pallu lies in front across the chest. The drape is most associated with Gujarat and with the Parsi community, and is also seen in parts of Rajasthan. Because the pallu faces forward, it shows the pallu design to the front. It can be spread out and pinned at the shoulder, and the end is sometimes tucked at the waist or brought across the body.
