Pallu pin

A small pin used to fix the pallu to the blouse at the shoulder so that it does not slip.

Also: saree pin, safety pin, brooch

The pallu hangs over one shoulder and tends to slide, so many wearers pin it to the blouse at the shoulder. A plain safety pin is common and is hidden under a fold. Some women use a decorative brooch or a pin with a chain. A second pin at the waist may keep the pleats in place. Pins have no part in the old drapes, which relied only on tucks and the weight of the cloth. Today they are seen as a practical help, especially for silk and for sarees worn for long hours.
