Tuck
The pushing of the edge of the cloth into the waist of the petticoat, which holds a saree without a pin or knot.
Also: tucking, waist tuck
A saree is held in place by tucks. The first is at the start of the drape, where the plain end is pushed into the drawstring of the petticoat at the right hip. Each turn of the cloth is tucked in as it goes round, and the pleats are tucked in at the navel. The pallu may also be tucked at the waist. A saree stays on through friction and a firm tuck, so the petticoat has a drawstring that is tied tight. Safety pins may add support, but a well made drape needs none at all in cotton.
