Lehenga
A long, flared skirt, worn with a choli and a dupatta, common for weddings in north and west India.
Also: lehnga, ghagra, lengha
A lehenga is a full skirt that reaches the ankle and is gathered or pleated at the waist. It is worn with a choli and a dupatta. Rajasthan, Gujarat and Punjab have long traditions of lehengas, often embroidered or mirror worked. Today lehengas are the usual bridal and festival wear for many women in north India. Ghagra is an older word for a similar skirt, and the two are often used for the same thing. The lehenga is not a saree, but the two are close cousins, and some styles combine them.
