Weft
The thread that crosses the warp from side to side, built up row after row to make the cloth.

The weft is the thread that runs crosswise, passing over and under the warp threads. The weaver carries it from one side to the other, and then beats it up against the earlier rows to make the cloth firm. The pattern of how the weft passes over and under the warp is the weave. Weft threads are what are added to make a pattern in figured cloth: an extra or supplementary weft of zari or silk makes motifs on the surface. The Hindi word for weft is bana, and the two are said together as tana bana.
