Pick
One pass of the weft thread across the width of the cloth, also the count of weft threads in an inch.
Also: picks per inch, ppi, ends and picks
Each time the shuttle crosses the shed, it lays down one weft thread, and weavers call this a pick. The number of picks in an inch of cloth tells how closely the weft is packed. The warp threads, counted the same way, are called ends. A cloth described as 60 ends and 60 picks has sixty warp threads and sixty weft threads in each inch. Weavers also say they have woven a certain number of picks in a day, which is a rough measure of how much cloth was made. A saree with a heavy pallu may need many thousands of picks.
