Kaccha
A style in which the saree is passed between the legs and tucked at the back, giving a trouser-like shape.
Also: kachha, kachcha, kasuti, back tuck
In a kaccha drape, the end of the cloth is pleated and drawn between the legs, then tucked into the waist at the back. This makes the saree work like a divided garment, free for riding, farm work, climbing or dance. It is common in nine-yard drapes such as the Maharashtrian nauvari and the Madisar, and in some tribal and coastal drapes. In several old drapes the cloth is shorter and ends above the ankle. Because the tuck is at the back, the style needs a longer saree than a Nivi drape.
