Crepe
A cloth with a crinkled, pebbly surface made by using highly twisted yarn, in silk, polyester or other fibres.
Also: crape, crepe silk, crêpe
Crepe is the name for fabrics with a crinkled or grainy surface. The texture comes from yarns twisted very tightly, so that when the cloth is finished the twist relaxes and the surface puckers. Georgette is a kind of crepe. Crepe silk is soft, a little heavy, drapes well, and does not slip as much as satin. Crepe sarees, in silk or in blends, are worn for daily and for formal occasions and are easy to pleat. The word comes from the French for crinkled.
