Tested zari
Zari sold with a test certificate that states how much silver and gold it contains.
Also: zari mark, certified zari
Zari varies much in quality, and buyers cannot tell by eye how much real metal a thread contains. Tested zari is thread that has been checked, by a testing body or a society, and is sold with a certificate stating the silver and gold content. It is used mainly in silk sarees where the zari is a large part of the value, such as Kanchipuram. A saree with tested zari may carry the certificate, so the buyer can see what is promised. Rules and labels differ between regions and makers, so a buyer can ask what the test covered.
