Pre-stitched saree

A pre-stitched saree has its pleats and tucks sewn or set in advance. The wearer steps into a waistband or skirt part, fastens it with a hook or zip, and then drapes the pallu over the shoulder. It saves time and skill, and it is popular for events, for beginners and for those who find draping hard. Because the pleats are fixed, it does not move quite like a hand-draped saree. Many ready-made sarees are made from chiffon, georgette and silk blends, and a few are sold with a sewn blouse as one set.
