Also: osari, Kandyan saree, Kandyan sari

Osariya is the Sinhala name for the Kandyan style of saree, the traditional dress of women in the hill country of Sri Lanka and now a bridal dress across the island. The cloth is wrapped round the body with a frill of pleats at the back of the waist, and the end is brought over the shoulder. It is worn with a jacket that has sleeves with a puffed or flared shape. The saree is usually white or cream and may be woven with fine borders. It is a different drape from the Nivi that is also worn in Sri Lanka.
