What is worn for Karnataka Rajyotsava

Karnataka Rajyotsava, on 1 November, marks the day in 1956 when the Kannada-speaking regions were brought together as one state, called Mysore at first and renamed Karnataka in 1973. The state flag, a yellow and red banner, is hoisted in towns and villages and on buildings, and the day opens a month of cultural programmes and awards, the Rajyotsava Awards. Many people wear yellow and red, and women wear sarees in those colours, often in Mysore silk, Ilkal or a cotton or silk with a border in the flag colours. Kannada songs play on the streets and bus stands, and shops hang flags.

The sarees

Also part of it, and being written: Mysore silk (The silk saree most linked with the state.).
