What is worn for Teej in Nepal

Teej, or Haritalika Teej, is the festival of women in Nepal, held on the third day of the bright half of Bhadra. Women fast for the long life of their husbands, or, if unmarried, for a good husband, and visit Shiva temples such as Pashupatinath in Kathmandu in groups, singing and dancing the Teej songs. The dress is a red saree, the colour of a bride, with green glass bangles, a red tika, and the pote, a necklace of green glass beads, as well as the tilhari, a gold necklace of a married woman. Women who are married gather at their parental homes. Before the fast there is a feast called dar khane din. The day after Teej is Rishi Panchami, a day for a purifying bath.
